This free Braille Viewer for Microsoft Word is designed
to display 6-dot Braille in simulated Braille. This makes it possible to
print out via a black print printer, which can also be converted into tactile
Braille with the help of thermo copiers (swell paper). This is also possible
with files that were not created with RTFC. If RTFC is installed on your
computer, you can output the texts directly from Word or File Explorer
via a Braille printer.
The viewer opens up the possibility for teachers of the blind and lecturers
to read and print braille on the screen. The printout can be used to read
along while a student feels the text on a braille sheet.
The Braille Monitor is a free add-on program for registered users of RTFC.
It has two input fields, one for printed text and one for Braille. You
can enter text that will be simultaneously translated into Braille using
RTFC's default settings. If the RTFC Professional Edition is installed
on your computer, you can also type Braille and get the printed text instantly
thanks to RTFC's back-translation. In addition, the entered text can
be prepared and printed as a label in several columns and rows.
The Braille Monitor can be used as a bridge between pupil and teacher in
education for the blind. If a student enters a text in Braille, the teacher
can read it as printed text.
