RTFC detects your daisy player and offers it as a target device for audio
book transfer. After creating a daisy book, the files are copied directly
to a suitable folder on the player. You don't have to worry about the
files that go with a daisy book yourself. An optional sound cue during
the transmission of an audio book tells you acoustically that the copying
process is taking place.
Select the folder or a file from a daisy book in File Explorer and select
the menu item "Transfer Talking Book" from the context menu to
load this audio book into your player. The only requirement is that you
have agreed to the use of the connected player as the target device for
the transmission of audio books or have selected it manually. Of course,
daisy books that were not created with RTFC can also be transferred.
Direct conversion from File Explorer:
We have added two more menu items to the context menu in File Explorer,
which allow direct conversion to Braille and digital audio books. In addition
to the integration into Microsoft Word and the conversion
with the Hypertext Wizard, a third approach is available for the use of
RTFC. If you hold down the Shift key when calling up the menu items, a
dialog will appear to change the default settings. This allows you to configure
the menu items and determine which format you prefer for each. For Braille,
you can choose between several grades of contraction as well as computer
Braille. With Daisy, you can choose between different types of audio books
or simple audio files.
Edit additional settings:
We have banished more rarely needed options to the so-called expert mode.
This made the dialogs clearer and the paths for keyboard operation shorter.
At the same time, we've created a convenient way to make rarely used
options accessible in Standard Mode. In the dialog steps of the wizard
and in the default settings dialog from the Braille or Daisy menu in Microsoft
Word, the "Manage Additional Settings" link is now displayed, which
you can use to temporarily switch to Expert mode.
Context menus for dialog elements:
RTFC offers context menus for some dialog elements, which significantly
increase ease of use and open up additional functions. Use the right mouse
button, the context menu key on your keyboard, or the keyboard shortcut
<Shift+F10> to open a context menu.
Audio books with shared lists:
If you convert multiple source documents to Daisy in one go, RTFC automatically
creates the file discinfo.html for Daisy
Player with CD Drive. The file is created in the parent directory of the
Daisy books. It serves the purpose of recognizing several Daisy books in
their own folders by the Daisy player and offering them for playback.
If you convert several audio files into an audio book in one go, RTFC automatically
creates a playlist with the extension m3u for this audio book. Such audio
books are also recognized as a unit by ordinary mP3 players and allow rudimentary
navigation within an audio book.
Clipboard File Format Selection:
The context menu for the "Add Clipboard" button in the Wizard allows
you to specify whether you want to process the contents of the clipboard
as formatted text ("Rich Text Format") or plain text. The conversion
of plain text can be influenced using the text import options to filter
out certain parts of the text and obtain a formatted document for optimal
further processing. This can be useful if you want to copy text from PDF
files or web pages to the clipboard and prepare them with RTFC.
Parallel processing of multiple source files:
If you convert multiple source files in one operation, RTFC will execute
multiple conversion processes at the same time. If your computer has a
processor with multiple cores, this can significantly speed up the conversion.
For example, if you use RTFC as an MP3 encoder, the conversion can be up
to 10x faster than before.
Support for current software environments:
RTFC can now also be used with the following products:
